If a vendor hesitates to produce the file, that's a red flag.

When a wide chandelier beats a grid of downlights

I used to assume chandeliers and cost control don't belong in the same sentence. That changed on a hotel lobby project, where I actually compared the alternatives.

Option one was a grid of downlights: 30+ recessed fixtures, each with its housing, trim, wiring, dimming circuit, installation labor, and future maintenance. One more honest note: LED drivers are still the most likely failure point in 2025. Buy fixtures with drivers backed by real warranties, from manufacturers who honor them. The last thing you need is a ballroom going dark forty minutes before a gala. That happened to a colleague of mine. She changed suppliers afterward.
