Now here's where the industry gets it backwards. People assume a chandelier is chosen for how it looks. Actually, the look is secondary. The optics determine whether the fixture works in your space. The rattan or rope materials scatter light unpredictably, which reads as "cozy" at dim settings and "squinty" when someone's trying to read a contract or check in a guest. Without a lens or reflector doing the heavy lifting, a boho chandelier is a decoration first and a light source second.

The Real Cost of Ignoring the Optics
